Giving Back: Helping Haiti
Master Photographer Peter Lik announced his support of Concern Worldwide’s ongoing Haiti relief efforts. All Peter Lik Galleries globally will donate a portion of February sales from Lik’s first 2010 major release, Tree of Life to Concern Worldwide, a humanitarian aid organization dedicated to eliminating extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. While Peter is often involved with philanthropic efforts, he is especially proud to have this photograph benefit the recovery process in Haiti. As a symbol of life and hope, this piece represents the growth and resilience that will help rebuild Haiti in the coming months and years.
The 7.0-magnitude earthquake, which recently struck the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince, has affected as many as three million people. Concern’s long-standing presence in Haiti allowed it to immediately initiate a full scale response in St. Martin and Martissant, involving water, food and medicine. The partnership between Peter Lik and Concern Worldwide offers collectors an opportunity to acquire fine art while simultaneously helping the country in this time of great need.
