Lik collected NANPA awards for "Ocean Fire" (Top 100) and "Turning Time" (Top 250), in addition to “Pele’s Whisper.”

“Pele, the goddess of fire in Hawaiian folklore, is a volatile and at times vindictive goddess. Pele took pleasure in her power to both destroy the land and also create it. You can visualize her fair profile in the upper left. It’s as if she is blowing, or whispering, into the ocean, causing the steam to part on the surface of the water below,” said Peter Lik when asked to describe the scene.

Expressions is an annual publication that highlights the top 250 photographs from the NANPA Member Showcase competition, held each year. It displays the very best photographs selected from thousands of submissions by a jury panel of industry professionals.
